We understand that as parents, you may have questions or concerns when it comes to your child’s care—and we want you to know that we’re here for you. Whether it’s about daily routines, activities, safety, or anything in between, our team is more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Your child’s well-being is our top priority, and we’re committed to keeping communication open, clear, and supportive every step of the way.

1. Does my child need to bring a water bottle?
Yes, every child must bring a water bottle with their name written on it. The MAAC staff emphasizes hydration and provides a water filtration system where children can refill their bottles.

2. What should my child bring each day?
Any items your child brings—such as a backpack, TKD uniform, extra t-shirt, or water bottle—must be labeled with their name using a permanent marker.

3. Is lunch provided, or should my child bring their own?
MAAC provides lunch through the city lunch program. However, children are welcome to bring a sack lunch. Please avoid items that need heating or refrigeration, such as cold/frozen foods or microwavable meals.

4. Will there be snack time? What kind of snacks are allowed?
Yes, snack time occurs in the afternoon. Please send healthy snacks such as fruits, vegetables, high-fiber items, or low-sugar options. No sodas, please.

5. What if my child needs to take medication during the day?
A signed consent form is required for any prescribed medication. All medications must be in their original bottle with your child’s name and dosage instructions clearly labeled.

6. Can my child bring a phone or electronic devices?
No. MAAC prohibits children from carrying cell phones or other electronics. If there's an emergency, the MAAC staff will contact the number listed on the admission form. Any phones brought will be confiscated and returned to parents at the end of the day.

7. What should I do if my child needs to miss a day?
Please call MAAC and notify the front office as soon as possible.

8. What are the drop-off and pick-up times during the school year?
MAAC typically picks children up from school around 3:00 PM, and pick-up is by 6:00 PM. This schedule allows extra time for activities, learning, and structure beyond the school day.

9. What time is drop-off and pick-up during the summer?
Summer drop-off and pick-up times will be announced soon. Parents will be updated once the schedule is finalized.

10. What makes the MAAC summer program unique?
The program blends martial arts training, academic enrichment (including science and other subjects), and fun physical activities. Kids build discipline, focus, and character in a nurturing environment.

13. What is the MAAC’s goal when it comes to teaching discipline?
The goal is to teach by example and instruction. However, students must also learn that disruptive behavior, disrespect, or violent outbursts have consequences.
14. How does the MAAC define discipline?
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, discipline is training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character.
15. How is discipline taught at the MAAC?
Discipline is taught through example, participation, instruction, and, when necessary, disciplinary action. The aim is for students to learn self-respect, respect for others, and respect for authority.
16. What scripture supports the MAAC’s discipline philosophy?
Proverbs 13:24 – “He who spares the rod, hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.”
17. What happens when a child needs to be reprimanded?
The child is first told to stop the behavior and then asked why it is inappropriate. Depending on the offense, further steps may include a second chance or additional discipline.
18. How is time away from the group used as discipline?
The student may be removed from the group to reflect on their behavior and consider better choices.
19. What if a child commits a serious offense?
They may be required to perform basic martial arts exercises such as wall sits, push-ups, jumping jacks, squat kicks, or similar activities.
20. What happens if these actions are ineffective?
If the behavior continues, or the child is disrespectful or violent, further disciplinary action is taken.
21. What is the role of sparring in MAAC discipline?
Sparring may be used both as instruction and correction. It must be conducted with supervision and proper safety gear.
22. Who can participate in disciplinary sparring?
An instructor or another student of equal or higher rank may spar with the offending student under controlled conditions.
23. Can disciplinary sparring be witnessed?
Yes, it must be witnessed either by other students or with at least one other person present, such as a MAAC employee or student.
24. What happens if a student still does not comply after all steps have been taken?
Master Lister may administer further corrective action. This could involve sparring, a parent meeting, suspension, or even termination from the program.
25. What rights does the MAAC reserve regarding student conduct?
The MAAC reserves the right to refuse service to a student for a set period of time or terminate care indefinitely if rules are consistently broken.
26. What does a parent or guardian agree to by signing the policy?
By signing, they agree to the MAAC’s discipline policy and understand its terms.
